So many missed opportunities last July when the dam broke and the water in Tempe Town Lake whooshed away. Where were the Monster Truck mud races, the mud wrestling, the hog wallows? And where were the mud pies?

Well, we’re not going to stand by idly as Tempe begins to re-fill its coolest man-made tourist attraction this Friday. No siree. In honor of this momentous and surely muddy occasion, Honey Moon Sweets Bakery & Dessert Bar, Tempe’s top bakery, has unearthed — so to speak — an old family recipe for Tempe Mud Pies, which they’ll offer in adorable mini versions.

Tempe Mud Pies are available for a limited time at the dessert bar inside the bakery from Thursday, October 7 through Saturday, October 16. Each rich and gooey three-inch mud pie sells for $2 each. Get ‘em while they’re cold!
